Under 15’s National Cup

More action from our junior players yesterday as Robert and Ryan both played for The Boswells School Under 15’s teams in the preliminary round of the National under 15’s Cup. Robert played for the ‘A’ team which qualified comfortably for the next round. Ryan played for the ‘B’ team, which comprises mainly of under 14 boys who are given the experience of playing up a year early. They narrowly missed qualifying after losing 2-1 to the Danes team from Herts though their coach was more than happy that they had won a set. Overall a great experience for Ryan who started first six and stayed on court for the whole day, despite being 2-3 years younger than his team mates ! Robert’s team will now play in the qualifying round on 26 March with a place in the last 8 at stake.

National Under 16’s Final

Congratulations are in order once again for 2 of our Junior members – James Munro and Robert Poole. Both took part in the Last 8’s and semi-finals of the National Under 16’s Cup Competition yesterday in Kettering, playing for The Boswells School. The team topped their qualifying pool undefeated and then faced last year’s U16 winners Wessex in the semi final. The first set produced one of the most entertaining and high quality sets of volleyball I have ever seen in an atmosphere described on the Volleyball England site as “electric”. Boswells saved some 6 or 7 set points before taking the set 33-31 ! They then took the second set 25-11 to take their place in the final on April 16/17th against Newcastle Staffs.

MTV wants your volleyball dreams!

We’ve received an email from someone at MTV who is making a volleyball-related programme, and looking for volunteers to take part in a show.
If this is something you’d be interested in taking part in, please let me know and I’ll let them know.

Have you or has someone you know, got an extreme, bizarre and downright ludicrous volleyball related wish?

A dream you want to fulfil, but have never had the guts or the means to do it?

Now’s your chance…
LET MTV MAKE THAT DREAM COME TRUE!
We are developing a new series for MTV to help you to realise your dreams. We’re particularly keen to feature a volleyball wish, perhaps something which really pushes the boundaries of anywhere the sport has been played before, or an extreme environment no one has ever had to play in before. So long as it’s crazy enough (and legal) we’ll do our best to make it happen!
